A little farther

So here's my daily update on that jungle quilt. I have three out of five fabrics cut out and ready to be modified and sewn together. I laid them all out on the floor today to get a barring on what the quilt will look like when it is all done. It also let me figure out where I need to cut some in half and other such cuts. I also decided to embroider the baby's name on the bottom border.
Any where you see a big piece of floor is where the fourth fabric will go, once I get it. And the little diamond shape holes will be a bright green fabric.
I love these fabrics! Two of them match, one just has larger animals, but they're by the same person. And the border was just long enough without me having to add onto it. Amanda said she doesn't want too much blue because she's not a big fan and little Ethan won't be wearing much of it. But I did throw in that cute blue pok-a-dot and monkeys fabric. It's a good contrast.

Well that will be it for now. Hopefully I'll see ya'll tomorrow with my newest update.

Jungle!

So I'm excited. My cousin just ordered a third quilt from me. This one will be a California king that is black and red with scoll designs on it. I can't wait to get started on it. But right now I have more exciting news. I got the first step done for my other cousin's baby quilt.

Nothing that special so far. Though the next part will be fun. I have to cut out 60 hexagons and then sew them all together. I'll get a picture as quickly as I can to show you all. Well that's all I really have to say today. I'll blog again soon.

New Quilting Room

Hey all. Sorry I haven't posted much, but I do have a good excuse. I moved! Yes no longer living with my beloved's family, but instead with him, my sister and her family. We are slowly getting out on our own. Anyways, since we moved out I got my own sewing room. Well more like sewing area in the bigger "Office". I got my little corner set up with a sewing table a small white table for cutting and all that jazz, and a plastic shelving unit for all my fabrics. Which I have a lot more than I thought. Wanna see?

Ain't it lovely? It's not too much but it's perfect for my needs at the moment.

So do you remember all those projects I told you I had? Well I pushed them aside for awhile. Main reason I've gotten a lot of priority quilts I have to get done first. Like my cousin Adam's Zebra quilt, which is taking a lot longer than expected, a Florida Gators quilt and Georgia Bulldogs quilt for my other Cousin Jenny, and a bunch of jungle themed stuff for my cousin Amanda who just found out she'll be having a boy! I am also working on finishing that old Denim quilt I posted awhile back, all it needs is it's back, and a quilt for my best friend who moved to Texas about six or seven years ago.

Any and all scraps will be used for quilts that will be sold on my etsy. And to keep me company is my fat cat, Shadow.

Well that's really it for now. I got to work in about 30 minutes.
See ya'll later

Window Flowers becomes more

So I got farther on the denim quilt then I thought I would this week. I have gotten all the many squares cut out and was able to lay them out on my kitchen floor so I could see what it looks like so far.
So it's not sewn or anything in this picture, but I think it looks pretty good so far. I also thought it was missing something so I decided that I will be placing 12 embroidered butterflies on random denim squares. The will be pink, blue, green, and gold/yellow.

So far I have the first three rows stitched together and  will be working more on it later tonight. I also have about half of the butterflies on. I think I'll be done with this a lot faster then I originally planned. Maybe by Sunday or Monday.

Though I won't be able to work on it tomorrow due to the fact I will be driving to Alabama to pick up Roger's siblings and to see his dad. We haven't seen him in almost two years so Roger is really excited. So I'm going to say I will be posting a new update by Friday or Saturday.

Now on a off topic.... I love the Quilt Place. It's a quilting store near me which has really amazing fabrics and quilts hanging around the ceiling. I actually bought a few different fabrics for some quilt ideas we got while there. Once being a Scrabble quilt that Roger got very excited about. He was the one to come up with the idea and practically jumped the fabric. We also picked up a wolf panel and a baby boy panel. The wolf quilt will be for me and Roger and the baby boy quilt will most likely be put up for sale. Well that all depends really. At how much I have to do before this one I might be married with kids before I get to it haha. No but I do know a few people who are either pregnant now or recently married and trying for kids. So if they have a boy I'll make it for them.

Well that's about it for now. I'll update again soon. Bye

My To Do List

Sorry but no pictures today. I have quite a bit to do and I'm just going to give all you lovely folks a run down of what to expect in the next couple of months.

First things first. I am still working on the Denim Quilt I have rightfully named "Window Flowers". This quilt is just big enough for a crib. It has blocks that are 4 x 4 and go in intervals of denim and a cotton fabric with a bright flower design on them. The backing is going to be a blue and pink plaid fleece and the boarder is going to be 2 inches of dark and light denim. I plan to have this done in the next two weeks or so.

The next project is going to be two animal rag quilts. These two are going to be for family so I'm filing as one project and separate from any other rag quilts I'll be doing. One is going to be a blue and green caterpillar for my step sister's new born cousin. And the other is going to be a monotone green turtle for my sister's mother-in-law. I can't wait to see the turtle one done because I know she'll fall head over heels for it. These two shouldn't take more than a couple of days so expect to see them near the beginning of February.

During this time period I also plan to make a few premade quilts to sell on etsy. These will range from a "Little Monsters" quilt, which has cute little monster friends on it, to my cute little "Animal Rags" to maybe even a Queen or Full sized "Beauty & Beast" quilt.

The "Beauty & Beast quilt is based off the Disney movie and will feature a red rose in the middle with falling petals. In the corners of the quilt it will have either the cute friends of Belle, like Mrs. Pots and Chip, or will have the Disney Princess herself. This will be decided when and if I get the fabric I've been eyeing. The background of this quilt will be mainly white with an array different patterns and the border will be a sleek black. I am torn between fleece or cotton backing, but I'm learning more towards cotton. This quilt will be time consuming and I don't plan on having it done till close to March. Which is fine because I plan on it being either a gift to my love, Roger, or a gift for my mother whose birthday is in June.

Also on my to do list is to make a quilt that is modern, sleek, and yet manly for my father. Who as of lately has gotten a lot of girly sheets and dishware.... At least in my opinion. I'm wanting to make it mainly black with hints of blue throughout it. I also plan on placing a single small square that won't match the rest of it on the bottom corner. Why you may ask. Simple this piece of fabric was the only piece I could find with two girls on it, the oldest being brunette and the youngest being blonde. I'll call this quilt the "Father". See I'm the youngest at the rip old age of 19 and my sister and I always use to make my dad cute little father's day gifts. So I thought it's be perfect just to add in there as a "Look how much we've grown" kind of thing.

So there you have it. My quilting to do list. So if you subscribe or find yourself on here more than once to see what I'm up to you'll know what to expect. I will post pictures of my progress, but I do not give step by step instructions on how to make the quilts. Sorry I just don't have enough patience to do that. Haha. Well then til next time. Bye

Dogs and Puppies

I thought it'd be fun to take all of you through how I made the pink and brown puppy rag quilt. More or less. I made this one differently then usual. The backing was all one piece, other than the ears and arms, so I had to go about sewing and cutting much much different then I'm use to.
This is what the front looked like before I stitched it together and before I added the eyes. I took about a half hour to cut out all the pieces and go through them to make sure I had them all. Which I didn't. In this picture the right paw is being replaced. It is actually a pink fabric. Once I finished that I started sewing which took around 2 hours to finish.
After that I sewn it to the brown backing and batting. I know it looks awkward at this point, but I promise it looks amazing now! And now on to the dog! The quilt is the puppy and so we must have a dog to fit the name...
See here my lovely boyfriend helped me because my back was hurting so bad at this point. He cut all the loose thread and extra batting . He then helped me cut up the edges to give it the ragged look. And the next steps were to run it through the washer twice before drying it. This creates a fluffy ragged look that is just so cute. It also cause a LOT of lint. Never wash these with other items and make sure to clean the lint trap before and after or you got a major fire hazard on your hands. So now this cute little thing looks like .....

Well at lest this is what it looks like with my mom holding it up. Hope you all enjoy it.

I plan to update in the next few days with some side projects I want to start while I'm free of orders. Though don't let that stop you if you want to order. My side projects can always be set aside to make you lovely people beautiful quilts from the heart.

Quilts Quilts and more Quilts! Oh my

Well I wasn't going to make a separate blog for my quilts, but after thinking about it I realized it was a good idea to do this. I am now selling my quilts and and so I believe this will make it easier to talk about without them getting mixed in with my personal life.

So just so you all can see what I've been up to here
This was the quilt that started it all. I made it for one of my nieces and fell in love with doing it. So I also made another for my other niece that looks like this
These take me about 3 - 4 days to make and are so cute! Right now I'm working on one for my step dad's coworker. She wants it to be a christmas present for her new born granddaughter. It's going to be a pink and brown puppy. I should have it done tomorrow night so check back to see it all finished. Right now it looks like this:
Once its all sewn together it will be about 6 inches smaller and have a brown backing. They're not shown here but the eyes are going to be black. She also asked me to make a quilt out of her old denim jeans and so far I have 6 pieces of denim cut out and 5 pieces of cotton. It's going to have a fleece backing and no batting. If I put in batting it would be way to heavy.
I believe this quilt will be done sometime next week or right before christmas. It takes a lot just to make a few pieces because it's hard to cut through jean. I'll post updates on this one as I go. Anyways hope you guys like everything so far. I'll try to post tomorrow with the finished Pink and Brown Puppy quilt.
